About Joe Swanberg:
Joe Swanberg is an American independent film director, producer, writer, and actor. Known for micro-budget films which make extensive use of improvisation, Swanberg is considered a major figure in the mumblecore film movement. Swanberg is a noted proponent of internet-based distribution for independent films. Swanberg’s series Easy premiered on Netflix in 2016. A longtime friend of the Maryland Film Festival, past Swanberg films that have screened at MdFF include LOL (2006), Hannah Takes the Stairs (2007), Nights and Weekends (2008, co-directed by Greta Gerwig), Alexander the Last (2009), Uncle Kent (2011), Silver Bullets (2011), Art History (2011), V/H/S (2012), Drinking Buddies (2013), Happy Christmas (2014), and Digging for Fire (2015).
About Jane Adams:
Jane Adams is an American actress, and frequent collaborator with Joe Swanberg, starring in both seasons of Netflix’s Easy. She made her Broadway debut in the original production of I Hate Hamlet in 1991, and won the Tony Award for Best Featured Actress in a Play for the 1994 revival of An Inspector Calls. Her film roles include Happiness (1998), Wonder Boys (2000), Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind (2004), and Little Children (2006). She also had a recurring role on the NBC sitcom Frasier (1999–2000),was nominated for the 2010 Golden Globe Award for Best Supporting Actress on Television for the HBO series Hung, and recently completed a turn as Constance in the most recent season of Twin Peaks. Adams has appeared in many MdFF films, including Swanberg’s Alexander the Last, Silver Bullets, and Digging for Fire.
